The lawyer for the corporate owner of the Clarion Inn at 5252 New Jesup Highway, Glynn County, said Monday he expects the motel to remain open after its property is sold at foreclosure.

"I can confirm the foreclosure. But we are dedicated to seeing that the hotel is open and employees have jobs. It may not be the current owners, but someone will step in to keep the hotel operating," said Matt Wilkins, attorney for Kronos Hotels and Resorts.

The property is to be sold at auction today at the Glynn County Courthouse after the owners, identified in legal notices as Portfolio Brunswick, defaulted on mortgage payments.

The motel, formerly Park Inn Brunswick, is operated by Kronos.

The company purchased the 126-room motel in June 2007 from Lodgian Inc. in a $64.9 million transaction that included 16 motels in the South.

Royal Bank of Scotland is seeking the foreclosure.
